DUBAI: This week, shoppers and diners at Dubai Mall were treated to a rare and unforgettable moment.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council, made a surprise visit to the popular dining destination, La Maison Ani. Accompanying him was His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
The visit turned into a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many when Sheikh Hamdan quietly picked up the tab for every table at the restaurant. Social media was abuzz after videos emerged of the Crown Princes walking out of the eatery while excited diners captured the moment.

One TikTok user shared a clip that quickly went viral, revealing the generous act. She explained that the total bill was estimated between Dh25,000 and Dh30,000. Other guests echoed similar sentiments online, praising Sheikh Hamdan’s gesture and warm demeanour.
Emirati diner Noura Mohammed AlMarzooqi, who was present at La Maison Ani, recalled the moment with awe. “They were super friendly and said hello to everyone and made the experience really great for us,” she said. “When I asked for the cheque after my meal, the restaurant informed me that Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed had paid everyone’s bill.”

La Maison Ani, run by celebrated regional culinary figure Chef Izu Ani, has become a staple in Dubai's fine dining scene. The eatery is known for its relaxed yet elegant setting, offering a curated menu and a stylish ambiance – perfect for a royal visit.
In a statement to Khaleej Times, the restaurant shared their gratitude: “It was an absolute honour and privilege for our team to welcome Their Highnesses to La Maison Ani. The experience was seamless, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to serve them.”
